There are countless knives of every description and size available on the market today and a multitude of places that offer them for sale. They run the gambit of a Chinese made liner lock for $1.99 each to Damascus and ivory folders that can run several thousands of dollars.
Because of my long term knife making experience, I have the distinct advantage of sorting out the wheat from the chaff so to speak when it comes to evaluating cutlery and knife related products.
I therefore set certain strict rules of standards for deciding what we stocked for cutlery based on over 30 years of knife making experience. The first consideration is the steel used for the blades because no amount of embellishment will compensate for poor performance and of course the heat treating of the steel must be correct as well.
One thing for sure, it sure cuts down on the amount of inventory necessary to stock the shelves as most knives manufactured do not meet my high ideals.
One of the nice things about doing business on the web is that it cuts down on the overhead and allows me to offer my chosen products at a lesser cost to many more customers. This in turn works out well for my customers as my shop is only a click away and I can offer better deals for more savings.
Although I may not have every knife in stock that would pass my rigorous standards, I am always looking for those little gems to add to the growing list that I do carry. And of course, I do make my own.
